Our family just had a wonderful celebration of John and Melanie's wedding on June 6, 2010. I don't have any pictures yet, but check out my niece's blog. She got some great shots! Thanks, Natalie!!

Our True American Hero

The video is at the burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetary. It was a full military service.
Papa spoke at the funeral. He did a great job. These were his notes, but he didn't say it "word for word". I have a video of his 5 minute speech, but it is too long to put on here.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" This is exactly what A. Bennett did for me, J. Ward, 59 years ago. Attis and I were serving in the Korean War together and on April 24, 1951 enemy fire came upon us and I hit the fox hole and Attis fell on top of me. He got the bullet wounds and I didn't get a scratch. I feel he saved my life that day. Attis was a brave soldier and served our country well. We lost contact with each other for 50 years and miraclously the Lord reunited us and I was able to be a part of A. Bennett Day in 2007 where he received all the medals he deserved. For the past three years we have enjoyed spending some good times together, sharing our memories of the war with laughter and tears. I will always thank the Lord for what Attis did for me on the hill in Korea. The Lord is good all the time!

"Flying" trip to Florida

We left Huntsville on Thursday morning, attended the funeral and then left Panama City Friday at 12:30 pm and drove - "flew" to Tampa to surprise Sharon on her opening night of her play - "Fiddler on the Roof". We arrived at 7:30 pm, just missing a little. It was fabulous. Sharon is amazing! She was the director and this as one of her assistant's said, "This is the pinnacle of Sharon's productions." She had live orchestra for the first time! Truly it was amazing! We drove back all day on Saturday and arrived home around 7:00 pm - Well worth the trip!!! Thank you, Lord, for safety! My Mother's Day gift to Mama Ward!!!
