Fun Day at Bridge Street

Mama Ward and Gigi took the "big boys" to play in the fountains at Bridge Street and then had some yogurt. It was a hot morning and we had to find some shade. John David and Hudson were eating yogurt and Hudson would get tickled at anything JD would say- "Are you silly?" ...here's a little blurb.....

Something sweet tonight

Tonight everyone else was on the sun porch watching the "LeBron News" and Papa and JDP were last seen playing solitare on the computer in Mama and Papa's house. About an hour later we went looking for them and they were fine - rocking and watching DISNEY.

John turned 25!!

Our True American Hero

Attis' Son - Dwight

Papa was holding the flag for Bennett's widow, Jeane. She asked Papa to escort her during the service.
The video is at the burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetary. It was a full military service.
Papa spoke at the funeral. He did a great job. These were his notes, but he didn't say it "word for word". I have a video of his 5 minute speech, but it is too long to put on here.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" This is exactly what A. Bennett did for me, J. Ward, 59 years ago. Attis and I were serving in the Korean War together and on April 24, 1951 enemy fire came upon us and I hit the fox hole and Attis fell on top of me. He got the bullet wounds and I didn't get a scratch. I feel he saved my life that day. Attis was a brave soldier and served our country well. We lost contact with each other for 50 years and miraclously the Lord reunited us and I was able to be a part of A. Bennett Day in 2007 where he received all the medals he deserved. For the past three years we have enjoyed spending some good times together, sharing our memories of the war with laughter and tears. I will always thank the Lord for what Attis did for me on the hill in Korea. The Lord is good all the time!

"Flying" trip to Florida

Mom and dad's former pastor, Dr. Pyle, passed away and we attended the funeral on Friday. They were there in Panama City, FL for about 5 years(1958-196 , before moving to Charlotte) and so much of our (Ward Family) Christian heritage foundation is because of this godly man and his wife, Queen Esther.
No oil spotted yet!
Papa drew up and supervised this construction of these first 4 school rooms at Central in 1959 - the beginning of our Christian education. Susan went to 5K - 2nd grade here.
We left Huntsville on Thursday morning, attended the funeral and then left Panama City Friday at 12:30 pm and drove - "flew" to Tampa to surprise Sharon on her opening night of her play - "Fiddler on the Roof". We arrived at 7:30 pm, just missing a little. It was fabulous. Sharon is amazing! She was the director and this as one of her assistant's said, "This is the pinnacle of Sharon's productions." She had live orchestra for the first time! Truly it was amazing! We drove back all day on Saturday and arrived home around 7:00 pm - Well worth the trip!!! Thank you, Lord, for safety! My Mother's Day gift to Mama Ward!!!

John David is 4!

John David and his mom made this snake cake, complete with a forked (chewing gum) tongue! He wanted to invite some of his friends to play/eat pizza at KIDS KINGDOM (you can see in background) tonight for his party!

We enjoyed celebrating with David's family John David's fourth birthday at lunch yesterday. The big boys wanted to teach Graham how to lick the candles! Happy Birthday, to our precious gift - John David Paul Gossett.

Graham's walking....well...almost!

Yesterday after Sunday lunch we all were watching as Graham was "walking". David said by next Sunday, he will be walking on his own - those sweet little hands looking for mommy! (Nat, I found his little walking toy at the thrift store for $1.00!)

A Special Day at Botanical Garden

As you can see, we had a ball! John David, Hudson and Gigi spent 4 hours at the garden yesterday. It had rained that morning and we had the garden to ourselves. We just played and played. The boys enjoyed feeding the fish our picnic lunch. JDP got a rough skinned up knee (look for it in the pics) right after we arrived, but he was tough! We played in sand, climbed treehouses, watched turtles, threw rocks in the creek, saw beautiful flowers.......!

Last time we went, JDP kept talking about looking for a panda. He knew pandas ate bamboo!
